Check Diagnostics Hardware Notebook System
Self-Checking and Fault-Tolerant Digital Design by Parag K. Lala, With VLSI chip transistors getting smaller and smaller, today's digital systems are more complex than ever before. This increased complexity leads to more cross-talk, noise, and other sources of transient errors during normal operation. Traditional off-line testing strategies cannot guarantee detection of these transient faults. And with critical applications relying on faster, more powerful chips, fault-tolerant, self-checking mechanisms must be built in to assure reliable operation. "Self-Checking and Fault-Tolerant Digital Design deals extensively with self-checking design techniques and is the only book that emphasizes major techniques for hardware fault tolerance. Graduate students in VLSI design courses as well as practicing designers will appreciate this balanced treatment of the concepts and theory underlying fault tolerance along with the practical techniques used to create fault-tolerant systems.
The Theory and Practice of Modem Design by John A. C. Bingham, It has been predicted that the arrival of the all-digital telephone network would soon make modems obsolete. Yet this has not happened, nor is it likely to for at least another ten years. Meanwhile, the ever-increasing demand for data-communications systems, of which analog-based modems are a large and essential part, continues to elicit new theories and exciting applications. This book examines these new theories and applications of modem design, and includes several practical examples of how to choose and design all the major components of a modem. Emphasizing an applied approach throughout, The Theory and Practice of Modem Design first describes the various media through which data must be transmitted— especially the most important one, the telephone network. Then, after a review of the basic theories of data transmission, the book discusses modulation methods, including the analysis of two new, controversial methods, with a fresh assessment of their usefulness and a description of how they can be implemented. Next, the book describes the overall architecture and all the major components of a receiver (with separate chapters for the critical functions of timing and carrier recovery, and linear and nonlinear adaptive equalization) using a careful blending of theory and specific practical examples, and considering both hardware and software implementations. The Theory and Practice of Modem Design also discusses two topics of great current interest to modem designers: convolutional coding for error correction and full-duplex operation (using both frequency division multiplexing and adaptive echo cancellation). There is also a section that explains all the ancillary functions that apractical modem must perform, plus two appendices that describe computer programs and diagnostic tests that can be used for designing and debugging.
Check-mate system - The check-mate system was a system of ship identification used by the Royal Navy during World War II. It was used by the Navy when on patrol looking for German Auxiliary cruiser and others ships that had been disguised by Axis forces. Nintendo Entertainment System hardware clone - Owing to the popularity and longevity of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES; known in Asia as the Family Computer, or Famicom), the system would become one of the world's most cloned video game consoles. Such clones are colloquially called Famiclones (a portmanteau of "Famicom" and "clone"), and are electronic hardware devices designed to replicate the workings of, and play games designed for, the NES. Frenzy LiveCD - Frenzy is a "portable system administrator toolkit," LiveCD based on FreeBSD. It generally contains software for hardware tests, file system check, security check and network setup and analysis - nearly 400 different applications. Maintenance OS - A maintenance Operating System (mOS) is one that can be used when normal assumptions of safety do not apply. It is typically used to recover data from corrupted or failing hardware, perform hardware diagnostics, or to manage unwanted or hostile software.
